McMahon’s primary services include transportation planning/traffic studies, highway design and permitting, bridge design, and construction services. Currently we are hiring for the following positions:
Structural Bridge Engineer (Posted: June 7, 2010)
The Structural Bridge Engineer will take the lead in providing engineering services and analysis on bridge projects. Depending on the candidate’s experience, this position could also manage bridge projects in the Mid Atlantic region for McMahon. There will be a mix of office and field work required for this position. This position could report to one of McMahon’s four PA offices; the preference would be the Camp Hill, PA office.
Major Responsibilities:
- Bridge construction and design experience
- Road construction and design experience is a plus
- Ability to clearly communicate with client, public, media, engineers and subcontractors verbally and in writing
- Perform bridge inspection and condition assessments
- Ability to create technical reports
- Coordinate bridge and roadway repairs with crews and subcontractors
- Ability to review plans, contracts, bid documents and technical reports
- Ability to review standards and specify equipment and materials for maintenance and construction work
- Must have knowledge of all PennDOT Structural Programs
- Design/build or contractor/construction engineering experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- 8 years of progressive work experience
- Registered as PE or able to receive registration through reciprocity
- Project Management experience is a plus
- Must have a CBSI Certification
- Knowledge of CAD and manual drafting principles, methods and techniques.

Bridge Inspector II and Bridge Inspector III
Individuals should have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and/or FHWA Inspection training class and a minimum of five years bridge specific experience for our Level II position and a minimum of 15 years for our Level III position. Fracture Critical Training preferred. Pennsylvania CBSI certification required. Must have a high degree of inspection knowledge and technical expertise as well as the ability to provide an accurate overview of a structures condition from field related documentation.
